La Roche-Posay – The Oily Skin Edit

Ok so hands up if you are an elite member of the oily skin club? My hand went straight up there if you missed it. I am very much out of the teenage skin phase and yet my oily skin has stayed with me like a lifelong friend (albeit not as bad as those pesky teenage years). You may think having this skin type is the worst and believe me when I tell you, I know the feeling. I have tried countless products over the years, every single one promising to sort me out – very few have impressed me.

I have struggled to keep my skin clear and to avoid hormonal breakouts since forever. This has now become amplified by the very fact that I want to find an anti-aging product that doesn’t weigh me down with a greasy formula and make this a whole lot worse – enter La Roche-Posay.

I have been using some of their oily skin products for a few months now and I can honestly say there is a big difference. Now it goes without saying that what works for me may not work for you but let me take you through a few of my favourites from their range.

Cleanse me baby: Purifying Foaming Gel

Ok so the first step I take in any daily skincare ritual is a good cleanse, I do this once a day in the morning and it’s just a simple gel wash. I just moisten my face gently and apply a small amount in circular motions– it’s so easy to think that one pump isn’t enough but trust me it goes a long way. Let it foam up and then just rinse with water –how easy was that?! This gel wash is cooling on the skin and doesn’t have a strong scent or contain any perfumes which is perfect for skin prone to breakouts.

Exfoliate and Tone: Astringent Lotion, Micro-Exfoliant

The La Roche toner doubles up as an exfoliator and I don’t mind telling you it’s a beauty (one of those you can really feel working). The key with this one is it removes all the impurities from your skin that cause blackheads and other spotty friends. I also found that I saw a reduction in pore visibility and as someone who doesn’t wear much make-up, this was a strong plus. I apply this toner with a reusable cotton pad avoiding around the eyes as this one is quite strong for sensitive areas.

Bye Bye Blemishes: Duo+ Anti-Imperfections

Next up is the Anti- Imperfections cream, this stuff is beyond dreamy. It leaves my skin feeling so smooth and silky it’s hard to leave it alone. This one is a corrective unclogging balm which I can honestly say is my favourite product from this range. I couldn’t believe how the texture of my skin changed and how it looked so much clearer after only a few uses. I would highly recommend giving this one a try!

Retinol Me: Retinol B3 Serum

Did someone ask for anti-aging skincare that doesn’t cause spots?

Oh Hi La Roche Retinol Serum B3

This is another one of my favourites, I apply this maybe twice a week before moisturising and I have found it to be quite the little line removal aid. It comes with a pipette so I apply it straight onto the skin in and around the areas on my face I feel could use a little boost in the aging department. It goes without saying this product is not a line eraser but it certainly goes some way to improve the texture and visibility of fine lines.

So there you have it, a few of my favourites from La Roche-Posay that I have found to be winners for my personal war against oily skin. If you have any favourites to share, pop them in the comments below – we all love a good recommendation!
